Most repair shops will damage them as well
Due to recent repairs, we must
advise you
NOT to try to repair these speakers on your own.
DO
NOT remove the screws to take the ribbons apart. This can and HAS caused more damage in
most cases. If additional damage has been done to the ribbons due to
missing or damaged parts, addition fees WILL apply

due to poor packing, shipping, broken or missing parts
If your ribbon has been taken apart, and is shipped to us, depending on its
condition,
such as, missing or damaged parts, there can be additional fees up to $200
per ribbon
We do not sell parts or kits to rebuild your own
ribbons
We will never suggest any end user to try to
disassemble their own ribbon drivers !!!
These drivers are under tremendous magnetic tension, and the slightest wrong
move can be catastrophic

Proper steps to take when
shipping us your ribbons for repair.

CUT the
ribbon wire leads, long enough to re-connect them later
You will NOT be soldering the wires back to the
ribbon later. Soldering to the circuit boards after the
ribbon has been rebuilt VOIDS our warranty.
Soldering can and HAS resulted in melting the Kapton. |

Remove
rear (square head) mounting screws, while holding the ribbon
in place
DO NOT remove the small (phillips-head) screws that hold
the ribbon together. |

Carefully remove the ribbon driver from the support panel
Be VERY careful not to break or crush the small circuit
boards at each end of the 48" and 60" ribbons. 30" ribbons
do not have these circuit boards. |

Pack your
ribbons, as well as you'd want us to pack them to ship back
to you. MANY ribbons have been shipped to us with
insufficient packing. These ribbons almost always get
damaged in shipping. Damage can range from broken magnets,
bent frame corners, to bent ribbons that can not be
salvaged. PACK THEM WELL !!!! |
