Carver ALIII and ALIII+'s [[SOLD]] Indiana Michigan

After living 20 years with just about every Carver speaker model made, I'm finally moving in another direction. So I have the following: ALIII's in black. Conservative 8 out of 10 cosmetics. 100% functioning. $600 ALIII+'s in black. Going to rate 7 out of 10 due to 1" ding on one wing of one speaker...

Lemme know if you do. After many years I finally heard a "buzz" out of one of mine. Only on one song on one recording at HIGH volume so far.

Maybe I'll bite the bullet and get new/rebuilt from toymaker as I've already invested in new woofs.

Re: Platinum woofers, new or recone?

"FYI, you need to do this quickly as our rebuild engineer is taking vacation after mid-August through April next year." Could be why they said they don't due rebuilds as "the guy" isn't there right now? "By the way, the person who is going to rebuild your drivers is our engineer master who helped Bo...

Re: Platinum woofers, new or recone?

Strange. I'll have to dig through my emails. I spoke with a guy that was supposed to have been involved in getting the originals made to spec. I dealt directly with him after refusing to take the speakers that did not fit, did not have the same mounting hole pattern, and only had two instead of 4 sp...

Re: Platinum woofers, new or recone?

Dynavox will rebuild your current drivers if the only issue is the surrounds. New surround, cone, spider.
Mine sound good, no cab mods.

Got my original drivers back, freshly rebuilt. Now to find the time to install them. Soldering is one art I could never master. ](*,)

Re: AL-lll in a surround system

Normally have Plat's in the front w/ALIII's in the rear but the Plats are down for woofer repair, so I've currently got ALIII's in front and back. Sounds great.

VMPS LRC for a center works pretty darn good.

Re: Need help from those that received drivers from Dynavox

From Orevox: I double checked the basket cut-out size for the existing batch and previous batch(the one with 45 degree separation mounting holes). They are within 1mm difference and both fit in 10-5/8" cut-out snugly. 10-5/8"=270mm These 2 baskets are measured 266 mm & 267 mm for the cut-out. So far...

Re: Need help from those that received drivers from Dynavox

Here is their offer: "To resolve your complaint, we suggest: (1) We can replace/modify the double spade terminals here for the 8 pcs you've returned; (2) You need to modify your cabinet a bit by enlarging the cut-out for the drivers, as this driver doesn't fit "all" Carver productions. As an alterna...

Re: Need help from those that received drivers from Dynavox

It seems they received an entire lot like this. Wonder how many that is? Yes, they tried to pass them off as direct replacements and get me to eat it, BUT they are now admitting there is an issue. They are asking about the condition of my drivers. Makes me wonder if they might be thinking about gett...

Re: Need help from those that received drivers from Dynavox

They received them back last week. They told me via email I need to alter the cabs and S.O.L. on the spades. I told them there were folks on the form that had received/installed Dynavox drivers and the only issue I recalled seeing was the mounting holes not quite lining up. As it stands right now, t...

Need help from those that received drivers from Dynavox

The drivers I received had a larger diameter due to an angle on the basket and did not come close to fitting in my Plats. They also only had two spades per speaker.

Can anyone confirm that thiers had 4 spades like the originals and a straight edge on the basket?

Thanks!
