Thanks Ray, I thought it might have been something like that.

Re: TFM-45 Bias,offset,damping adjustment procedure

I've been away from this forum for a while, but I just acquired a Carver TFM-45 and C-16, so I thought I'd see what I can learn about them here. It looks like there was once so photos in this thread that would have been exactly what I need to help me adjust the amp, but they are gone. I have the ser...

Re: Sunfire Stereo 300 Internal Fuses

A further update... About an hour ago I installed a blue LED in place of the burnt out meter bulb, thanks to TNRabbit's excellent post. Now I have the new to me Sunfire 300 powering my NHT 3.3's at very high volumes with no signs of distress. And the joules meter is softly glowing blue :) I'm kind o...

Re: Sunfire Stereo 300 Internal Fuses

Thanks Ed! I don't think I'll need you to check, as I'm now certain about the 20A value: - 5 out 6 locations on this amp has them in place - I can see the physical size of the filament in the photos of my old Stereo 300, and they are larger than the 10A and 15A which I have on hand With respect to t...

Re: Sunfire Stereo 300 Internal Fuses

Thanks Ed! If you're really dying to see the inside of your 300 it would be great to find out what you see, but I THINK I have it figured out. My new Stereo 300 has 20A fuses in every internal position except one, which has a 10A slow blow fuse. I found some old photos of my first Stereo 300 on my c...

Re: Sunfire Stereo 300 Internal Fuses

Thanks jjptkd,

I'm sure Bill's the guy to sort these units out, the shipping cost alone from Canada makes that prohibitive.

Surely someone must know what the correct values are for the internal fuses.

Sunfire Stereo 300 Internal Fuses

Hi Everyone, It's been a couple of years since I last posted, but I"m back :D I sold my original Sunfire 300 and Tube Preamp back in 2011, but I just picked up the identical models through a local classified ad. My new units are both in excellent cosmetic condition, and arrived with their original b...

Re: Sunfire Tube pre dilemma

Hey Guys,

I've been out of the Carver/Sunfire loop for a while. Where can I find more out about the MC phono stage mod?

Thanks,
Trevor

Re: Sunfire 300 serial number markings

The silk-screened labels are coming off my original Stereo 300 amp, but the serial number sticker doesn't look like it's going anywhere.

Re: Sunfire Control Center / Preamp versions

Hey Bruce, did you speak to the Seller about this one? The Audiogon ad has "box, manual, & remote" listed as included. There also appears to be an IR receiver hole on the facia that non-remote units like mine lack.

Re: Sunfire Control Center / Preamp versions

Crap. I've been keeping my eye out for a Sunfire Classic Tube Control Center with a remote for a while now...I seriously check Audiogon every other day. Somehow I missed this one: http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?preatube&1280205647&/Sunfire-Classic-Tube-Preamp- Asking price was $900 including...

Re: Lab vs. Normal inputs on Sunfire Amps

electrafixion71 Non "Lab" input question - Did the Balanced connection sound any different than the UN-balanced "Normal" connection (I'm assuming you tried the "Normal" input)? If so, what did you hear? I didn't think to give that a try, but I really should. I know from experience that lots of "fak...

Re: Lab vs. Normal inputs on Sunfire Amps

Just an update for those who are interested: I've had my Sunfire Classic Vacuum Tube Control Center connected to my Stereo 300 via the balanced connectors for some time now, but after the dicussions on this board I thought I better try the lab inputs. I let my system run for a couple of hours before...

Re: Lab vs. Normal inputs on Sunfire Amps

So in a nutshell, I'm probably better off connecting my Sunfire Tube pre to the single ended "lab" inputs on my Stereo 300 amp. I guess I'm lucky to have an "original" Stereo 300 amp. :D
