Re: LETS ALL BUY AMERICAN GOODS & SERVICES!!

Instead of buying new audio gear, have some vintage carver or sunfire gear refurbished by bob or rolland or tom at pittsburh hi-fi!! You forgot Anders at Vintage HiFi of Pittsburgh, and yes, he and Tom will take care of you well :) Anders does mods too! Keep your money in the USA!! Keep jobs here w...

Bunni- Monty Python fan- eh? :D =D> To pass here alive......you MUST bring me a shrubbery! It's ONLY a rabbit! Tim: Well, that's no ordinary rabbit. King Arthur: Ohh. Tim: That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! Sir Robin: You tit! I soiled my armor I was so...

Re: Who here has a killer music collection?

Anders has well over 4000 LPs, probably a few hundred CDs, and reel to reel. I think we have a dozen or so cassettes and a stray 8 track here and there too! He's pretty proud of his Living Stereo collection.

Re: Home computer, what would you buy?

The difference between out of the box vs. custom again is that out of the box is often proprietary and limited as to what you can upgrade and how far you can go. There are standard parts out there, however, Dell, HP, etc have been known to use custom power supplies that are not standard, and since y...

Re: Home computer, what would you buy?

I used to build my own. I have a PIII (800 MHz Coppermine) that I built in 2000 that I still use as a music server. The machine I'm on now (my office computer) is a Pentium 4 (3.2 GHz Prescott) I built in 2002. The main advantage of rolling your own is you get what you want, but I don't think you s...

Re: Home computer, what would you buy?

I agree with building your own, but newegg.com is much better than tiger direct. Any computer out of a box is gonna be proprietary in some way. Dell used to be great, but not so much anymore. My best advice to you is to price out those parts on newegg.com and see if you're getting a good deal. You r...

Re: How did you get into High End Audio?

I endured my dad's sound system that shook the house and at one point made competition for the church bells across the street. He played bagpipes full blast. Yep he was nuts.

Then I eventually married an audiophile :) Thank God!!!

Re: The Money Pit-not my best day yesterday!

Oh I get the Money Pit reference big. Just before Anders went off to Carverfest, we too had a plumbing issue. The sink our washer drains into was clogging up and he cleared it. It was a little slow to drain but was draining. While he was gone it got worse again which put laundry on hold til he got b...

Get rid of AVG..used to be wonderful, sucks now. Avast! Free is the way to go, and if you're really silly it will talk to you like a pirate. Actually, unless you are a fixture on the porn and gambling sites, the best and easiest to have is http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default....

Re: Introducing...Bunni!

I love troubleshooting computers, probably as much as you guys love your Carver :) OK, Dell Windows XP approaching 5 years old. How do you STOP the redirecting to Ask.com! I have read this is a problem and have looked into what was discussed and all setting were ok. You click on a website and it re...
