I have both a C-1 and a C-19 the latter being the 6DJ8 tubed Carver Pre-amp. I must say I like the phono stages in both, but the nod goes to the C-19. The C-1 DOES have the Sonic Hologram built in. The C-1 is quite versatile and seems to do evwerything I ask of the C-19. The fact that you can go to ...

Carver Amplifier modifications

I read a while back on Roland's web site HighTech does modifcations to Carver amps. Anyone out there in CarverLand had him mod anything? If so what did he do, and how has it held up/worth the $$/is it sonically better? I'd like to know. I always thought if my system had more balls in its powersupply...

I'm really happy to hear that!!!! The last thing I heard on my TFM-55s was one needed a transistor and the other was in the batters box. That was almost 2 weeks ago....I'm getting(more than I am already)paranoid about their status. I am, however, glad these Ladies have decided to keep their shop ope...

Eddie: Buy what you like to watch, there is some REALLY good stuff out there. That said..... After this discussion I went out and dug up some info. As with all things internet, treat this as so much (c)rap as YMMV. I found: 1st- Both types of set look great. I found the Samsung plasmas have better b...

MAXX, MAXX, MAXX. Dude, that's like going from my bridged TFM-55s to a 50 watt Sony. Let's just say I require a bit of a larger performance envelope. I'm looking at a Yamaha FZ-1, 140HP at the rear wheel, naked but has some windscreens and luggage in the aftermarket. It'll get serious in the turns a...

a while back...oh, 20 years or so I remember a review magazine claimed they welded something with each amp it tested as part of the auditioning process. The weld came first.... *if* the amp passed the weld it got the full review. Can you imagine the look on the manufacturers face when they found out...
