Re: PDR System Updates

Oh look at you sneaking this update in here. Holy crap those look nice. What's the difference between the V1 and the Super V?

That has got to sound unbelievable with those Rythmik servo subs.

What is that you are bending to make the outer shell? Plywood?

Re: PDR System Updates

Every 3-4 years I feel the need to replace my speakers.
So, just like clockwork.... ....a new speaker project.

These are a direct clone of PAP(Pure Audio Project) Trio.
It uses 15" modified Eminence A15-neo, and the Tang Band 1808.
These are the same drivers Mark uses in his open baffle.

The only thing I did differently is a one piece baffle instead of
the 3pcs PAP uses. Instead of aluminum frame mine is iron.

I was lucky enough to get the x-over schems and used Mundorf
caps and resistors and Solen inductors. On advice from my
go to guy I used a Litz braided inductor as well....its huge.

These are really remarkable, and they've taken their place as
my daily drivers.

Couple of pics.....

Re: PDR System Updates

Boy...the woodwork on those is just beautiful! I love that contrasting colors theme. Spectacular!

Where do you crossover with that? 250-300 or so?

Driver size to get the air moving down low is one of the tricks to pushing OB to the next level. There version of that driver is no doubt a spot on driver to be using in OB.

I'd love to have a sit down with those and spin some tunes. No doubt a fun ride! I can almost hear 'em from here...

Thanks for sharing!

Thank you everyone.

They say these new 15" neo can cross as high as 1000....I dont know, but thats what they say.... :-s

Mark these cross right around 450....I find that remarkable enough.... :-k

Re: PDR System Updates

Very impressive PDR. It looks like you have gone down a similar path with custom gear. I'll have to update you on my system but I must say again....

Very impressive.

How do the subs sound? I am interested in getting 2 F25's for my rig.

In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

I've been running O.B of some sort for about 7 years now.
But mark was definitely a huge factor in me wanting to give the Tangs a go.

I'm not done just yet though.....by mid/late summer I want to
give these a go....suppose to be next, next level

Yeah Tom, ever since i put together my first DIY speaker kit I realized for
pennies on the dollar I could play way above my pay grade.

The subs are pretty dang good, very musical.
I didnt think anything would come close to my Rythmik OB servo subs, these do.
In this application they are acting as low mids as well, they integrate VERY well with the Tangs.
There are a ton of reviews for the PAP Trio TB, just google it.
The servos are going behind the listener ob each side.....that way I can rattle the windows
and piss my wife off.... \:D/

Re: PDR System Updates

MMmmmmm...Voxative! Tasty!

Heard their back loaded horn a few years ago at the Atlanta Axpona. It really, really impressed a bunch of us! I'm not so sure all of us either rated it the best at show or one of two or three best of's. Don't know if they have different drivers or what, but their driver in their horn, at that time, was really tasty! Not a sign anywhere of the Lowther shout.

I think of the TB at this pretty high plateau, just a bit below a few other special drivers and a whole bunch somewhere lesser. The Lowther and the Voxative at a higher level, just have to pay attention on how to get the most out of them and avoid any problem areas in the case of the Lowther....at least on some of their drivers. All in all, no regrets on the TB's for the money a'tall! They know how to make music! I've got and experimented with the Lowther and don't know I could reach something as musical as the TB's and sure couldn't afford a line of them like I can the TB's. We've all got our limits somewhere. $$$

It'd be interesting for sure to drop those Voxative into those beautiful OB's of yours and see what magic it could produce! \:D/ Might be a whole 'nother level...
