http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-CARVER- ... 337fb14d47

Just wanted to bring to attention and maybe this forum can figure look at it. No Remote available. I wonder how it does not respond to volume control from the remote, but no remote is included.

I spoke with the guy. A dead Lightstar pre without a remote is only useful to either someone who would pay to try to fix it and get a remote which would cost as much as it is worth if it could be fixed and you could find someone to work on it or to someone who needed an expensive door stop. :-({|=
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!

What about it being an organ donor unit for someone who has one and the remote ? Spare parts are always good to have when they're available, IMO. Of course, the price needs to reflect it's limited value.

Couldn't a logitech or Carver PR-1 learning remote control operate that pre ? :-k

I'm considering hat there might actually be an issue with the volume control itself. If not, then I would imagine you could use any learning remote.

That is correct, the seller has a remote (at least he use to) but is not including it with the sale as the Preamp is broken. As far as I know, Rolland is the only one with parts for these and the know how to fix them. Anyone interested should give him a call first to verify that it can even be repaired. The guy who's selling this pulled it out of the trash bin when Rita's shop moved from the old Sunfire building, along with a bunch of other gear he sold off quite awhile ago. Such a delay in the sale of this item would lead me to believe either it was already sent in for repair and was not fixable or possibly that he attempted repairs himself without success. Of course that is just purely speculation.
