490t tube change time??

I wonder if the vacuum stage out of a 490t could be used. They turn up here and there for $200 or less when the drawer wont open or the remote is missing etc.

at last CF when I had a rare moment alone with Bob, we got to talking about his tube pre, I asked him about his mod that he had done to Brians.
he said no problem.
but he did make a comment that there are a lot of stand alone units that will sound as good if not better, than his phono stage.
this was designed like 15yrs ago. Bob has only gotten smarter in that time
also the pre was a production item, so the was a bit of cost cutting I'm sure....

the phono stages by them self do come up for sale about once a year...

and no, the tube guts from a 490T will not work. whole diffrent animal

I have the modded phono stage that Bob did, Mike thanks for posting the pictures.
I also have a second system set up, on that system I use a ProJect Tube BoX SE II phone preamp and it sound real nice.
