What are you bringing?

Post by wrstps » Tue Jun 18, 2013 2:21 pm

I’ll start this so we all know where to find the stuff I’ll be in watershed # 5 with my wife.
Carver amazing silvers completely restored.
Silver 7’t Restored by Roland
490t CD player times two and maybe three.
C19 Restored by Roland
C9 Restored for those who want to play with it.
Two knight shadow subwoofers. These go great with the Amazing Silvers!
Lazarus tube preamp for those who want to play with it.
Various tubes including some really good stuff.
A BBE controller that makes the ribbons produce.
And the only black faced speaker controller I have ever seen for the Silvers.

I would also like to put together a foosball tournament and give the money to a local charity. I will supply the beer for those interested.

Good list of equipment. It will sound good.

Not sure exactly what we will have yet in our cabin. I know there will be tubes and tables. All I know, we will have my truck full of stuff again this year.
Some cool Carver stuff!

Hopefully I will have a complete Phase Linear setup going from Amp to pre to cd to tuner and to turntable! Hopefully the Bobfather will be able to see this stuff as the last time I brought it he was not able. Also will have a couple other interesting tid bits....... 8)
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!

Right now Im thinking:
Black magic mono blocks
Slightly modded 490t
Dahlquist DQ6's
Maybe Sunfire tube pre
Audio control Richterscale
Some kind of sub amp
Dahlquist DQ7c speaker used as a sub woofer only.
These speaks have a real nice cabinet and produce smooth tight bass from an 8' woof.

Also hoping the Sauters come thru with my PT2400 and Lightstar. [-o< [-o< [-o<
And the Toms are bringing my modded 300x2.

Post subject: What are you bringing to Carverfest?

OK, I know it's a while off, but it's is never too early to ponder.

My system I am bringing will be for Real Cheapskates or what I would call "The Pabst Blue Ribbon Audio Special"
(Complete System is not in use and will need to gather components out of storage mostly) \:D/

System will consist of the following: A very cheap Kenwood 5.1 receiver (used $100 of Fleabay years ago), a cheap Sony DVD disc player (actually the cheapest they make-Walmart $35) and a very cheap pair of Pioneer bookshelf speakers (Fry's $69). This system would not be complete without a close out cheap subwoofer(Forget the brand-$99) . Of course, I/C's would be courtesy of Sony, which came with the cheap player. (Sorry Doug) This is truly a bottom feeder system. However, IMHO, it will perform way above it's cheap price point.

Having said all of this, although far from audiophile quality, this particular system for Cheapskates provides surprisingly decent sound IMHO. Yes, it will be outclassed by every system at Carverfest and not compete with any of them. However, the essence of the music will be conveyed somewhat convincingly and I don't anticipate anyone running from the room.

Here is the link to the little Pioneers I mentioned a while back on the forum, which is buzzing on the internet currently. Many positive comments, if one was to Google the little Pioneers. I know, your thought is you're kidding right? :-k

In addition, have slotted a pair of Roadshow Vapor Audio bookshelf speakers for Carverfest that I will bringing. \:D/ Will need to set them up on a different system other than the front end that I am bringing, which will not be worthy of these speakers. :-k
