Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.

Well said Markie,,, now for the good stuff,,, just got off the phone with Ray and I told him I would post my impression,,,some years ago I sold my best system,,, Audible Illusions pre,,belles 350a. And a pair of Tyler Acoustics Reference Monitors,,,, got my new Tyler's last week,,, hooked it up to the AI,,Belles and lowly NAD CD player,,,,could not find the magic,,,wtf,,,, changed the pre to the Lucas Linestage,,took all of two minutes for Janice to say,,,night and day difference,,,holy moly,,, the LL stomps all over the AI,,,it is alive!! Mids and vocals to cry for,,,Mark,, if you have any kits left over,,please let me know,,,I want another!!! we already compared the LL to my Joule at the fest,, and we all know how that turned out,,,this thing is truly a Giant killer of Biblical proportions! Please,,, others who have built theirs,,please chime in!

Wow...great story to hear George. Reports like that make all the work worthwhile!

I've not got it all sorted out on what is left at this point. I'll certainly note your interest. At this point, I'm thinking that it's likely that their will be a chassis or two. But until I can get untracked and everyone's built, I'll have to just make a list of interest or something.

Since I've got a fully balanced system for my main, I've run it through my mind what a balanced version would be like. 4 of the chokes, 4 of the 12B4's and 4 of the 0D3's. I think about that for a little bit and then remind myself I have plenty other to worry about first.

I do have in mind a possible amp that is able to deliver all the goods. It's only possible in lower powers though so most speaker systems won't work. I'm planning on showing at least one version of that next year in #10. I feel strongly about it's capability...enough so, that I think it'd be interesting for others to drop their amp into the same system and compare. It's dynamics and clarity are just simply unusual.

Actually, it's the opposite of OTL. It's iron heavy.

It's a bridge tied load, single ended, class A tube amp. Capacitorless signal path.

Transformers get a bad rap. The biggest problem with the design is coming up with the interstage transformer at all, let alone the cost. That's where my experimenting has been...on alternates that don't let down the quality but do lower the cost and increase availability.

So far, it's been done with the 6AS7/6080 as the output tube and gets about 5-6 watts. I also have bought a bunch of the same family, bigger dissapation tubes to experiment with...maybe being able to double or so those watts. The question is if anything is lost in trying to get those increased watts.

It's best mono-blocked due to the weight. Looks really purty with only two tubes showing. And a clean, clean sound with music that just flows.

It was a big hit at a high-end headphone show in Florida a couple years ago. And those guys are really picky and know good sonics.

I've got a 2A3, 300B and a 45 amp around. This BTL amp is the one that really seems to light my fire though.
