But to your issue. You need a multimeter to make things easier. Beg borrow or steal one if you can. When mine break, I turn off the lights and run a bright led flashlight very slowly along the back of the ribbon on each trace until I find the tiny break.

Doing foam really is the only way to go and storing them air tight for extra's would solve any rot problems too so once this is a done deal and there available then all will be better in Silver/Platinum land.

Good news for the day is: I received the quote and turn around time for our 12" Platinum and Silver foam surrounds

Unfortunately, we will not be getting any sample pieces (for free) They require $1,000 for setup of the custom mold needed for this surround.
After the mold is made, they will send me 10 samples for approval before sending funds for the full order.

The good news is, the final price per surround should be below $15 each after the mold cost and shipping from China.
Still not the cheapest price in the world, but still a very fair price considering "standard" surrounds on eBay are anywhere between $4-20 ea.

You told me the prices were high for the rubber surround that i had found in Hong Kong this past summer.
And you said you already have someone making the mold and producing the surrounds.
This was 3 months ago.
Then you went silence on here.....
So what is the verdict?
Are you or are you not going to have the surround available soon?
Believe all members would like to know and make their decisions.

If i would have gone ahead and get those more expensive surrounds from H.K., at least we all can have our woofer fixed by now and enjoying listening to the Tals once again as we speak.
So what to spent a few bucks more to save these wonderful speakers instead having them collecting dust in a the corners...!?

I just farted when I read that, and it was not the beer.
All regular readers here know Toy is the man. His motivation and our motivation are often different.

In his own way, he is kinda like Bob. Both are exceptional and do things we all want to share in.

They just don't use our clock, or our calendar.
I am good with that, but can see how it could be a conflict for people not in the loop.

Artists are fucked up people with a lot on their mind. That is why the good ideas keep rolling out.

I'd like in on this if newbies are eligible! Need a set of 6 for my silvers eventually, but voted 8. I like to keep spares for emergencies.

I've had many dozens of speakers come and go through my systems with one exception: My ALS Silvers.
It's in my will that they be buried with me.

Working on picking up a pair of ALS III's soon - if all goes to plan!!
