Has anyone had their ribbons repaired by James Sauter, and if so were you pleased with the sound afterwards?
thanks

Considering James is a "model maker" by trade....I am certain he can handle the task with aplomb! (I used to be a model maker myself....tremendous patience and craftsmanship to the Nth degree are a big part of the profession!) I will let others speak of his talents in this area though--

I actually have some ribbons - play them everyday.

Some experts hints are were just wrong that they might get soggy outdoors in the humidity --
Nope, they play crisp and clear and another myth is debunked. The roof does heat to a million degrees everyday so that might be a factor.

Ribbons are -- good. My ears really like the tingles the highs can give and ribbons do that with ease. Mine are kinda crunched up and I look forward to hearing Gary's that are relaxed.

I think it would be a mistake to overlook a master of the ribbons -- DAVE S

James rebuilt my ribbons right in front of me.
I've had them for over a year and I play them OBSCENELY LOUD every day,
biamped with a 400~seven.
The response curve on them is identical to the published curve.
He knows what he's doing.

I used to be a "dumb-ass" too James! Remember- when dealing with engineers the idea SUCKS....unless it WAS THEIRS! I found soliace in making my ideas "theirs" I look forward to meeting you at Carver-Fest!!! I will bring my portfolio of models I have built- you may be the only person there that can appreciate that sort of thing! :D

I am of course not getting the inside joke. Many years ago I traded a broken set of platinum ribbons out with Dave Sauter. Now they are in need of repair. I sent an email to James@carveraudio.com a while back and got no response. Is one the father or the son?
I am very confused.

You can PM both of them, but they can be slow in getting back to you. as they both have so many projects on the go.
