Any gamers out there?

My stepdaughter purchased Skyrim for her laptop. It barely runs due to the laptop being old and not meeting system requirements. I am out of the loop since the last game I owned was Atari 2600.

What is the least expensive laptop I could pick up at Best Buy that would be able to accomodate Skyrim?

Re: Any gamers out there?

any new laptop should handle it. Would also depend on how much other stuff she puts on and plays / works with.

From Newegg.com:
Gaming

Gaming is a highly demanding application, especially for the video card and CPU. If you want to enjoy the latest 3D games using full special effects at high screen resolution, it may be worthwhile to consider a top-end gaming desktop PC. You can still play games with a mainstream gaming machine, but you may have to compromise your enjoyment by turning down the special effects and scaling down the resolution to ensure a smooth gaming experience.

Re: Any gamers out there?

Found a site from eBay ad that takes 3.2 ghz Intel duo processor "old" Dell desktops and adds a high speed video card and sells them for $169 with Windows XP and a bit more with W7 or 8.... Do a search for desktop PC, etc. to find this ad if it's still there. - Ed

There are some gaming laptops with dedicated graphics cards out there too but the price might be more than you want to spend.

Re: Any gamers out there?

Oh Harry only plays the games on FB cause he tries to beat me and hates that he can't. He doesn't want to admit I am better than he (of course it doesn't hurt that I live online.)

Trying to get a dirty scrabble going, but got no takers lol.

Re: Any gamers out there?

Sounds like you play toooo?????

Now you may know this about Harry, but he hates, absolutely hates, not being able to finish / complete something....I know shocking right? Like when he took all day to fix the stapler that broke, although he will say slamming it didn't break it - and now when it doesn't work again, and I say I'm going to buy another - he will take it and fix it so IT won't beat him.

I know shocking right. Who woulda thunk Harry to be so determined!

I'm just surprised Harry hasn't given you any tips on going through the screen on the screen door, I am sure that one keeps him awake. Also explains his recent trip to the hardware store for more screen. Also surprised I don't see him practicing cornhole...give him a challenge and he won't stop.

Shocking right. Harry? But yes.

Re: Any gamers out there?

Not sure but wouldn't put it past him suggesting you use them to get through the screen door.
