This morning I woke bright and early to get a few things done to the Durango. I'd perused the paper, craigslist and autotrader to find a couple of cars I might be interestedin. I've owned my share of American muscle cars, 'Cudas, Chargers, Challengers, Trans Ams and a couple of 'Vettes. Most of all I miss my '73 T/A and my '68 L-88 Corvette convertible. The T/A was just sweet! The L-88 was a tire melting monster. But I digress. Today I looked at a 1980 Pontiac T/A that some kind soul had swapped a Chevy 454 into. It was a bit rough and there was too much snow on the ground to crawl under it to check the frame's condition. They tend to rot out around the spring hangers. The 'Vette was in even worse shape. Someone had torn it apart. Looked like my '68 when I first got it. Lots of stress cracks. It did bring back memories.
what to do
I stopped at a little car place in Galion on my way home. I couldn't help myself. There was a yellow 1970 Plymouth Superbird sitting in the window. $80K, just a tad pricey. I found one for $1,800...when I was 16. My pops wouldn't let me buy it. He said, neither of us would get in the house when we got home if we brought that car along. 440 six-pack and a pistol-grip, just what a young boy needs. It's the only car I've wanted but never owned. A guy can dream I guess.
prolly end up with the Firebird. This will make Trans Am #10. I know a bit about them. I heard that big-block calling to me...buy me Ray.
