Can someone help?

Post by Miko1971 » Fri Mar 09, 2018 12:01 pm

Joe is almost done with my epic multi year pre amp build. He sent a text asking if I could scounge up a set screw for the volume knob on my Sunfire Vacuuum Tube pre. I already asked Bill and no dice. Can anyone help? Not asking for free.. I’d be happy to pay for it!

Thank you!!!!

Spoke to Tom Z and he says you can get one at a good hardware store.
In reality, it only matters what it sounds like to YOU!!!

Oh? Joe made it out to be like that was some kind of esoteric, hard to find thing. He said he uses metric stuff on his equipment. I can let him know.

I thought the simplest idea was to have him drill and tap the knob for whatever he uses to attach stuff. He’s trying to get this finished up before he takes off overseas. Otherwise it’ll be months before he’s back.

Thank you for the help!!

Packrat is correct. If McMaster Carr doesn't have it it probably isn't available.

They've got most fasteners but I"m still trying to find a pack of 1/4-20 x 1" self drilling steel to steel hex head screws. I know they are out there because I've removed them. Just can't find replacements when I snap one off.

Look for #14 self drilling it's nearly the same size (0.010) smaller
