Carver Amazings loose magnets

Hi guys,

I just acquired a set of Carver Amazings, but a few of the magnets are out of place (on top of the ribbon instead of on the sides as they should be). The ribbon plays so I don't think it's damaged. I was planning on taking the screws that hold the ribbon structure to the speaker, remove the ribbon structure, re set the magnets and super glue them in place and put the ribbon back. Is it as simple as that? Or is there something I need to watch out for? Thanks!

STOP!!!! Before you do ANYTHING talk to DaveS or Toymaker. They can tell you what you need to know. A wrong move could damage the ribbon and make them in need of complete repair.

Hi Kingman, thanks for the warning! =) I was going to experiment with the other ribbon that's definitely torn first. But I do realize I might have to send one or possibly both of them to the Sauters for repair.

You forgot the Dahlquist DQ10! (I got the Infinity Kappa 9 last year from an RCA'S member)... By the way, the Genesis are the newer 350SE (15 tweeters instead of 4 and the Bohlender Graebener midrange ribbon instead of the Carver midrange ribbon.)

I remember seeing a pair of Silvers at Rita's Vintage Audio a couple of years back that Mr Carver was working on. I noticed a couple of magnets near the top of one of the ribbons were out toward the center and I asked Rita about it. She told me that Bob told her not to bother trying to fix it if the ribbon still worked as she would more then likely ruin the ribbon, tear it etc if she monkeyed with it.

My amazings have two magnets out of place on one ribbon.

I have not touched them, and they sound great.

( I do plan on having it rebuilt, or buying a replacement.)
