2 systems, one room.

Post by angelod307 » Mon Oct 18, 2010 1:02 am

and then there was two. the main h/t system facing on way, and now a 2 channel system facing the other way on the back wall. i have setup a table for repairing some amps and stuff, and have the sonic frontier pre, carver sda-490t wtih a tfm35 running the al-III ribbons. soon i will have some jolida's to replace the current drives in both setups. pics soon. three pairs of ribbons in one room is a bit much i will admit but i have some occd going on here. i think the next thing on my list of wants is a lightstar or sunfire 600x2 amp for the two channel rig.

You can paint those fugly galvanized ribbon housings with black eggshell paint & they'll look a WHOLE lot better~

i just have not made it to the hardware store to get some foam that is used in window a/c's to cover them back to normal. very inexpensive and effective to the eye. thin enough that you still see the outline of the ribbon holes, but not the color.

and then, the jolida's made it here 4pm friday. that was quicker than i expected it to come. so far, they sound good. no owners manuals though. kind of a shocker i thought. nothing other than a cheese rca, computer iec power plug and remote. the dvd player's remote is not impressive either. nothing like the 100's remote. for those of you that run balanced system's, the 700mkII has balanced outputs but they do not look like they are tied into the tube section of the outputs. photo's soon. both players have a solid feel and look to them, and i would say that the dvd player is more impressive build wise, although the cd player seems to definetly have the better tube section though. the dvd player's tube section seems more like a mod than not.
