Probably another "OCCD" case here

Post by ViperZ » Tue Dec 23, 2008 10:30 am

It all started with a thought of a 2-channel system... So I figured, I'd get an amp, and got TFM-24.

Then I needed a preamp... so I got a C-1 and CT-28v (if you need one, why not get 2? well, I got 3, but the 3rd one is Marantz AV550).

Now I need an amp for a stereo StudioLab passive sub, and thinking M400 here...

From what I found so far, Carver preamps have such a reach sound (I'd say 3D, but that's what holography on C-1 is for ;)), it amazes me every day. The sound is so full, deep, the bass is very extended. Although Marantz preamp is more detailed in highs and mids, it sounds so much thinner...

C-1/TFM-24 are driving restored Maggies MG-II and Velo ULD-15 for now..

So you're Ct-28v is working fine since your replaced the missing jumpers?

Yes, sir! Like a charm :). I do need a remote for it though (using Harmony 659 for now).

I replaced my CT-28V with a Sunfire TGP-III and I love it. When I replace my TFM-15CB with my future Sunfire amp I plan on sending "both" to Bob and Rita for full refurbs and will offer for sale as a pair only! I have all manuals and remote. I will of course post here first if anyone would be interested.

I already have Marantz AV-550 as a DD 5.1 preamp and Carver C-1 as a 2-channel preamp, so CT-28v is just a "nice to have" toy for experimenting and testing other gear.

I wish I could send my TFM-24 to Bob, but it's only worth $175 anyway, LOL :)
