Question for James....

Post by treitz3 » Sat Feb 12, 2011 3:00 pm

Hey man, is there any way we can reduce the number of announcements?

The US to censor shit???..... Awww Hell No They Didin't !!!! .... the Internet as they see fit.. like China.[7 total posts, none since December of last year]
((( BOUNTY ))) $1000 + my Lightstar preamp for your... [This is a legit and relevant announcement to Dave, I recommend to keep it]
Speed traps [Maybe make it an announcement just before Carverfest?]
The Store [No real discussion for quite some time, time to close up shop for a while]
REGISTER and LOGIN to view the forums [1 post since '09]
$ $ $ $ $ CARVERaudio INTERCONNECT ROADSHOW $ $ $ $ $ [Been dead for a long time]
TO ALL WITH ZERO POSTS, YOU WERE WARNED NOW YOUR GONE [last post in '08!]
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING
[Fuck 'em. Half of them don't get around to reading this announcement due to having to go through too damned much just to get here in the first place. Kinda useless, don't you think?]

That's a lot of announcements, many of which are completely out dated. Some aren't even relevant anymore.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, the amount of sub forums, within the forum has grown to levels that somewhat make it impossible to find what you are looking for, especially if it is posted in the incorrect sub-forum.

I guess what I'm asking is that we clean the forum up a bit and make it more of what it was 3 years ago. You know, smaller, more efficient and to where you didn't have to scroll down 3 pages to see what the latest post or thread subject may be?
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

The best way to enjoy digital music reproduction is to never listen to a good analogue reproduction.

I mean, do we really need a sub forum for Birthdays? What's wrong with putting that in with the Misc. Discussions? The Flea-Prey Bondoogles sub-forum....everybody and their brother already know it's a joke by now.

We have already discussed the manuals section. It's dead until what you have is linked to the forum. Why is it still here? None of it is relevant anymore.

See where I'm getting at?

I will change things when I get to it....
I don't see anyone stepping up to do shit, but complain.

I don't delete anything, I move them to an archive folder.

What would you have me do, James? Send myself a polo shirt? Refund myself the money sent to you over 18 months ago?

And as far as deleting threads goes, stuffing one in a archive where nobody can see is tantamount to deletion. How ironic that particular thread 'disappeared' just as it became evident to all how you've completely failed to live up to such minimal expectations like actually delivering what you were paid to deliver. Sorry if that thread was too embarrassing for you, but you should be embarrassed for your complete and utter failure to live up to the smallest of obligations which you offered in the first place all despite having sent you my address 4 times, all at your request. What was the point? Nobody twisted your arm and forced you to sell shirts. No, you took up that cause of your own volition with prompt and complete abdication of your responsibility. I've been part of this forum four and a half years. If this is how long term members are treated then god help the newbies.

But hey, it's not that you're lazy, it's that you just don't care.

You have revealed a great deal about the quality of your character.

So either send my (new) fucking shirt, refund my money, or be branded a liar, a cheat, and a thief.

The reason I moved it was because it has been taken care of, and as I said, I have no plans to get involved with that project again. It's just not worth the time that's involved.

I disagree; I've offered to be a limited admin on numerous occasions to help out. It's your forum and "not a democracy", however....

Personally, I could care less about the off topic thread issue as they are in their own section & if you don't want to read them, DON'T GO THERE! Plus, I post a crapload of stuff there...... 8)

kinda like TV or Radio...there's a channel changer & off switch~

Yes, you have offered Gary, and thank you for that.
The issue Tom is bringing up is not something a normal mod can do.
Someone would have to have full forum modification permissions.
That's something I don't really want to dole out to anyone.
It's way too easy to mess up the entire forum when you are in the master control panel.

We will see how alex does keeping out the rif-raff for a while.
When I get some time, I'll modify some of the forum.

I however won't be on very much
