glad to be here

Post by bferrara » Thu Feb 19, 2015 10:01 pm

Hi
I am a musician and spend all my time working on music and listening ....so I needed a sound system that wasn't in my studio that wasn't for work but just to sit and enjoy music again like an amateur. I ended up with Carver Amazings and a Carver power amp. I love this stuff and the beauty of the sound is wonderful.
I have joined this forum hoping to hear from people about their experiences with maintenance and care of my Amazings. I have sent one ribbon away because the film was wrinkled a bit. I am wondering how delicate they really are? I never play music loud ..they are in new condition . Does temperature matter...do they need to be moved very carefully?
anyway..I imagine I will get answers. I do love my speakers.
Bruce

Welcome, Bruce!

wrinkles in the ribbons aren't necessarily bad, depending on what type of wrinkles. care should be taken when transporting ribbons in a vehicle or shipping but for just moving around the house they're not that sensitive. As they age, the glue that holds the magnets in place can become brittle and release the magnet, destroying the ribbon. But that doesn't happen very often.
