you see, it may be a road trip on the way to see you guys in pa and also go see a guy up there that can fix the engine tune in my ecu I got from his company on my vw corrado. otherwise, tom will see this at carverfest if it goes beyond my simple ability .

Congratulations Angelo!!! I hope you can get it fixed without breaking the bank. Lightstars were cost no object so they can be pretty costly to fix but they will take you to sonic heaven.

thanks guys. anyone live close to Virginia beach that is going to the fest? google says 5.5hours drive, and I am gonna hike rather than ship. and yes, I may have a line or two on the repairs . I could go through it component by component as they are dual mono and I have a working sample in the other channel. as long as there is no smoke, no burned traces(although repairable to a degree) all is good.

yeah, only if I was to use it as a shell for a custom pre. 400 for a case is stiff though.i would be all in at 150 for the pre.

I guess that ol acronym for "BOAT" (bust out another thousand) will be seen to also apply to "BOAT anchors" But good luck, Angelo! Hoping you find the right person to do the repairs and that it's cheap/simple

I think Vintage hifi can fix it Angelo, if not let me know i someone who can.

I have a lightstar pre with the same problem as that one on eBay. It's the QQHF9614 chip on the display control board. I contacted Bob about getting a new one programmed. Haven't heard back yet. If you figure out a way let me know. I am getting some cutting out in my right speaker now. I think I have traced it back back to the preamp. I have the set up going direct to the amp now, no preamp, and things seem ok. I will be sad if my second pre dies. Just for fun if you do a Google image search for Lightstar reference amplifier, mine stereo is the first image. I'm internet famous.
