TFM55X vs. A760X

Post by maninblack » Fri Jun 01, 2007 3:04 am

Hi guys, I've been searching the forums & I've only found 1 thread with the topic "TFM55X vs. 760X but it wasen't very helpfull, can anybody highlight the differences - (Pros / Cons) for me? I know that they're both THX Certified, 380 watts / Channel @ 8 ohms, I believe the A760X is an updated / later model, but what is the difference?

760 is supposed to be better in the bass department. Ironic, since there is a myth that everything made after Bob left the company was inferior, but 760s are more highly sought after than 55xs and command a higher price usually. Not that 55xs are bad - they are awesome - but I've read that the amps continued to improve throughout Carver's run most notably basswise.

Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.

copy and paste into your browser. TFM-55 vs. 760x

this is not the X version of the TFM-55. But you'll get the idea. BTW look at my sig.file and you'll notice I run a bridged pair of TFM-55s. No lack of bass here :-)

Back to ZZ Top.
