Subwoofer Advice?

If we end up going with a dual sub setup... Is there anyway to run them both off a pre amp that has 1 sub preout or do you need to upgrade to a preamp with 2 sub outs?

That's what Y splitters are for. Just don't use them as combiners!

What sub(s) are you using? Most of the newer powered subs are daisy-chain capable....

You might check out Epik subs. I bought their smallest one (Vanquish), which is a 12" sealed, and I love it - took a little while to burn in, but now it is very musical and blends right in with HT. They are best known, however, for their bigger ported subs. Here is their website - http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/ There website actually says they are completely out of stock now, but you might want to call them and see if they have anything lying around. I think they are moving factory locations and, thus, may not be encouraging the usual web-based purchases. Regardless, they are very friendly - so give them a call.

Well he doesnt have a sub at all right now so hes not using anything! but I had wondered if you could daisy chain those subs like that. Anyone know if the Carver subs can be ran like that?


Ive been keeping an eye out for Epik subs. Another brand that had been brought to my attention is Hsu Research. Ive heard some really good things about them... anyone on here have any experience with them?

Also, does anyone have any idea what the RMS power is on the Sunfire subs... Im sure the 2700 watt rating is peak output. Id be curious what they run at normally.

Hsu has a very good reputation, as well as Epik. They both make a lot of sub for the money. ALL newer subs have pre-outs for daisy-chaining, including the Sunfire subs.
