Does it have a headphone out you can use via a 1/8" to rca interconnect? Maybe that would be another option... or .. Is there another digital output...say USB? Is the USB configurable to output audio?

I recently found a headphone jack on a TV I have that is located in a place not identified in any literature on the TV. I had to download an app from Phillips to get it to operate. It didn't even show on the TV menu. Tech told me it was to come out on the next version of the TV but was left inactive on my version. WTF?? Install all of th

magnaryder,

It does have a headphone out jack, but I don't have an 1/8" headphone to rca interconnect.
Wouldn't the headphone interconnect still have to be routed thru the DAC? If so, there is
no connection on the DAC; only coaxial and optical. I guessing using the headphone jack would
negate the TV speakers output which would make the lack of digital signal strength even worse.
There is a USB port for a PC, but I have no idea how to configure it for audio output signal.
There are no other digital audio outputs on the TV.

I received the TFM-15 amp back from the repair shop and the problem was two 2SC18115
transistors in the protection circuit and a filter capacitor to protection relay. Suspicious...? :-k :-k :-k

The Hr-752 receiver is presently in the shop being tested. So far testing shows no problems
detected, however, I'll be taking the TV and DAC to the shop on Monday to see if problem
can be replicated.

My Samsung plasma allows me to control tv volume from the tv. Where do you have the volume set? This s through the outboard DAC.

No, the headphone jack is an analog output so no DAC required. The 3.5mm to RCA cables can bought on eBay for $3-$10 shipped to your door. Here's a decent quality one for $9:

jjptkd,
I incorrectly assumed the headphone jack to be a digital signal output.
Thanks for setting me straight. I did order the 3.5mm to rca cable you
recommended. We'll see what happens....

magnaryder,
I'm not quite sure what you're asking?
The only volume control for TV (not connected to receiver) is on the
remote control. I usually set the volume level at 35 (of 100) which allows
for comfortable listening level when the receiver is not powered on.
Volume set for TV via remote has no effect on the volume/signal strength
thru the DAC.

Thought I would follow up on this thread and give an explanation of what has
transpired since my last post.

I received my HR-752 receiver back from the repair shop: it had 25 solder
joints on a PCB that needed a reflow. That was the cause of the left channel
drop-outs. Looks like Robert R was right from the start.

I did try the connection to the headphone jack on the TV and find the gain
is much better (consistent with other components), but using it bypasses the
sound from the TV speakers so I can only have sound when the receiver is on.
Also, when played at volume of 10 o'clock and above there is noticeable
background hiss.

I purchased a mini pre-amp tube buffer and find this was the answer to the
gain problem. I can now match the gain of all other components so my home
theater system now functions as I had hoped it would.

Thanks again for all the help and leading me in the right direction.... 8) 8) 8)
