CT-17

Post by Mr.20c » Sat Mar 29, 2014 10:08 am

Hello all,

I am new to the forum and found this site through a search looking for information on my CT-17. I have noticed that the treble pot on my unit is dried up and the left side isn't putting out all the high end sound as the right side. If I wiggle it a little or apply slight pressure it suddenly will jump up to where the right speaker high end sound is.

My question is ,
Where can I either purchase the pot or the entire tone circuit board module. I had it out of the unit yesterday thinking I could spray some electrical lubricant /cleaner in the pot however it is sealed.

I would appreciate any help you can offer ,

Thank you,

B,

Take a picture if possible of the original pot for comparison.

I have heard of folks carefully....carefully.. drilling small holes into sealed pots and getting lubricating agents in.

Remember, cleaners aren't the final product into a pot. You may clean and then apply a lub or use an all in one style. Wrong stuff can ruin a pot.

The downside to attempting the drilling is getting metal shavings into the pot and for sure ruining it. However, if it's last resort before replacement.....

Should be no reason for replacing more than the pot. That's a common part to do exactly what you're talking about.
